music and lyrics

For me, music has and always will be a big part of my life. I’ve played instruments since I was little. I’ve danced since I was little. I’m the girl who sings even when she doesn’t sound good…in the car, at work, anywhere really. You can use it to convey lots of emotions. It can make you want to jump around and dance, sing, or celebrate. It can make a workout a whole lot easier. It can also make you want to cry, or at the same time comfort you. As I’ve said for before, sometimes it seems like a song is meant just for you.

On a recent episode of Glee, Rachel has a hard time writing a song, because she isn’t able to reach down far enough into herself. Until she experiences true pain, she doesn’t find the right lyrics and emotion to really get that good song. I think this is why I love music so much. Because it’s real. Because it’s people’s real experiences and emotions. Whether happy or sad, fun or heartbreaking…a truly good and lasting song usually comes from a real place in the writer or singers heart, or whatever you want to call it.

I think this is also why on numerous occasions I turn to music when I’m having a hard time. Or possibly why I’ll burst into tears during a song in the car during these times. Like recently during this song:

Lady Antebellum – Need You Now

Picture perfect memories
Scattered all around the floor
Reaching for the phone ’cause
I can’t fight it anymore
And I wonder if I
Ever cross your mind
For me it happens all the time

It’s a quarter after one
I’m all alone
And I need you now
Said I wouldn’t call
But I’ve lost all control
And I need you now

And I don’t know how
I can do without
I just need you now

I’ve always loved this song. But I think hearing a song at a certain point in your life has a different effect on you. Yet another reason I love music. It can change meanings at different times too. It can also bring back certain memories. I guess that can sometimes be bad.

Anyway, this song yet again describes exactly how I felt the other night. It’s like all the hurt that I’m feeling, someone else already felt when they wrote this song. The line “I wonder if I ever cross your mind” will not stop going through my head…and I cannot sleep. Of course this relates a little bit to my post “say what you need to say”. This all sounds very vague, I know, but I just don’t want to throw the whole story out there. I just use this place to get my feelings out enough that I feel a little better. But I think almost everybody could relate to this lyric. Hasn’t everybody wondered that at some point? It hurts and it’s just slightly stressful.

If you hadn’t noticed I’ve been having one of those “bad weeks”. Lots of confusing stuff going on…I’m hoping things will get figured out soon, but until then I guess I will just continue to sing in the car at the stop of my lungs and have a good cry when I need it. After all, the artist wrote the song for other people to either enjoy or to sympathize with right? And since when does a good cry not just make you feel a little better every once in a while?

Damask Wallpaper

I want to do one room in my house with this wallpaper. I love it. It kind of puts a vintage, glamourous feel, depending on how you do the rest of the decorating. Here are a bunch of different ways to use it.

I love this, because it’s just a tiny little bit of it, and then they matched the curtains to it.

This is probably one of my favorite color schemes for it. (I really like the black and white too)

A lot of people are starting to use wallpaper only on the ceiling for a different effect.

Obsessed with this mirror. But I love the way the mirror looks contrasting on the wallpaper.

I like that this isn’t actual wallpaper, but they used the pattern on windows to make it look like it. It has the same idea.

Ten Day “YOU” Challenge – Day 5

Day 5 – Five Foods
This might be my favorite day. I LOVE FOOD! This one was especially hard for me to choose, because I’m one of those people who can probably find something at any restaurant. I’m not picky. I love all kinds of food. I love to go out to eat and I love to try new things. So here are some of my favorite foods, but it probably changes everyday just depending on what I feel like eating. Haha

1. Tamales
I LOVE mexican food. I grew up in Southern California so I ate it all the time. The spicier the better. I love fish tacos, regular tacos, burritos, taquitos, and etc, but lately I especially LOVE tamales. I would probably eat them everyday if I could.

2. Soup
This is just general because I love all kinds of soups. Cheesy are my favorite and then I eat a lot of tomato too. I eat soup even when it’s warm outside. I love the handheld Campbell’s soups, but Paradise Cafe and Zupa’s are probably places I go on a weekly basis.

3. Salad with Goat Cheese and a Balsamic Dressing
I love all kinds of salad, but if there is a salad with goat cheese on the menu, you can bet that’s probably the one I’m going to pick. I LOVE goat cheese. I literally would eat it plain.

4. Gnocchi
I have recently developed a love of this food. I don’t know what it is, but put it in any sauce with any filling or side and I just devour it.

5. Seafood
This is hands down my favorite type of food. You can find it in any “genre” of food. Japanese, Mexican, America, Italian, etc etc…you can get seafood. I could eat sushi everyday. I absolutely love shellfish. And if I could afford to eat lobster or crab every week at a nice restaurant I would. I also probably eat fish multiple times a week as it is.

*This is my life moto*

say what you need to say

Have you ever wondered what hurts more…saying something and wishing you hadn’t? or saying nothing and wishing you had?

I feel like I don’t want to have any regrets and I couldn’t hold it in and regret not getting what I was feeling out, but at the same time am I just sticking my foot in my mouth? Am I just making things worse by not just being chill about stuff? I don’t know. I feel like I’m having a dilemma.

In the end, I decided to say it. Because after all, sometimes you just have to say what you need to say. I think not saying how you feel about someone doesn’t benefit anyone. In the end, at least you put yourself out there.
