3 Fabulous Swim Trends

While watching last week’s Fashion Police, George put together a runway show of his favorite swim trends for this summer. So I thought I would pass his ideas along, and see what you think! I love the first two, but I’m not so sure about the last one…and not sure anyone but Rihanna could pull it off.

Vanessa Hudgens, as usual, in BOHO. Most suits in this style are found in “teeny bikinis”. However, as George pointed out, most of the time wearing a small suit actually makes you look smaller, which you wouldn’t necessarily think. The more fabric, the more it looks like you have to cover.

Missoni Boho String Bikini

Taylor swift showing us the RETRO style. This is a slightly more conservative style, because the suits often have high waisted bottoms and more fabric for the tops.

Dolce & Gabbana 3-Piece Red Floral High Wasited Bikini

And Rihanna wears a CUTOUT suit here looking very futuristic. This trend comes in tons of prints and styles, so you don’t have to worry about being as out there as Ri-Ri.

Braided Bun – tutorial

This is one of the easiest ways to do your hair up in a fun way! I did this in a low bun today, but it works the same if you want to do it higher or as a top knot as well! Happy hairdo-ing!

1. Secure your hair back in a pony tail. Put in an elastic so that the braid doesn’t come loose later.

2. Do a simple braid with your ponytail, but do not put an elastic on the end.

3. Wrap braid around the base of your ponytail.

4. Tuck the end of your braid under wrapped portion of hair and secure with a bobby pins or elastic (whatever works best for your hair). Tuck in loose pieces and hairpsray. Sometimes using pomade actually helps the loose pieces stay better than hairspray.

And you’re done!

Heart of the Matter

Emily Giffin has a talent for showing people’s emotions in her books. She also has a way of making you think twice about something you thought you would be completely one-sided on.

I was a little bit torn on this book. The basic story line goes a little like this: Tess is married to a wonderful, kind plastic surgeon…Valerie is the single parent of Charlie, who is injured in an accident…insert plastic surgeon…He becomes Charlie’s doctor and grows closer and closer to him and Valerie, while his wife is at home with his own two children. Yeah, you can see it coming…will he? won’t he?

That’s why I’m not so sure about this book. It’s kind of like when movies are about cheating etc, some of them turn out to be good movies, but then at the same time their not ever really good because someone always gets hurts and you can’t support it.

So, this book does a good job of showing Tess and Valerie’s sides, but doesn’t really explain Nick’s (plastic surgeon). It is interesting to see all of the different feelings and emotions they go through, especially the brief glimpses we get of Nick’s. I never thought I would feel bad for the cheatee/cheater…

Anyway, read the book if this sounds interesting. I do like Emily Giffin and it is an easy, fast read. But, don’t if you don’t like the subject because it definitely made me feel angry and emotional at times.

5 Beauty Tips for your Nails

1. Get your Best Nail Shape: It should be the same as your cuticles. To prevent nails from splitting, file in one direction instead of going back and forth.

2. Make Nail Polish Look Flawless: For even application, hold the brush parallel to the nail, not at a 90 degree angle. Paint a stroke down the middle, then down one each side.

3. Create Nail Polish with Eye Shadow: Take a small amount of your favorite loose powder (shimmery works best) and spring it on nails while polish is still wet. Then add a clear top coat. For a trendy take, only apply the shadow on the tips.

4. Fix Polish Mistakes with a Lip Brush: Choose a stiff version (or a paint brush) to erase smudges and clean up polish that got on your cuticles.

5. Try Easy Tricks for a Mani that Lasts:

Make nails super clean: Polish will stay better. Use cotton pads soaked in rubbing alcohol – some removers leave oily residue.

Use Cuticle Oil: It conditions nail so polish won’t get brittle and chip.

Do an extra top coat: Do this at the same time that you do your nails. You will extend the mani by at least two days!
