Lovers + Friends Scarf Print Maxi

As soon as I saw Olivia Munn wearing this dress (here) I was obsessed. Then I found it online and I had to have it. They have it in a purple tie dye print and a blue scarf print as well, but the red just stood out to me. I am obsessed with the print, and the back, and everything about it. Yeah, I know, I use the word obsessed a lot.

I took these photos on the bike/walking path next to the house we stayed at in Hawaii. Gorg right? I was for sure spoiled all week! I think I’m finally beginning to realize that I was on vacation and that I’m home now. I don’t get to go back…well at least not for a while probably. Anyway, I’m a lucky girl and I miss my family! My little brother has been sending my pictures of all the fun things he has been doing with his team out there and I’m so jealous! He will have so much fun this year! IMG_0937IMG_0944_2IMG_0940IMG_0938_2IMG_0935_2IMG_0946IMG_0942_2IMG_0941IMG_0945_2

VMA’s 2013

The VMA’s are always interesting. This year I wanted to either vomit or curl up in a ball and die of embarrassment for Miley. I have never liked her, but she pushed me over the edge this time. Ugh. I can’t even talk about it. I’ll just post this…photoIMG_6924

OK…now that I’m traumatized again thinking about that, I’m going to move onto my favorite part! Outfits!!!

Coco  Rocha – I sorta love her new hair, and I like that she went really casual, rocker chick because it totally fits with this event and her new hair! vma-mtv-2013-coco-rocha-red-carpet-ap__oPt

Rihanna – I don’t know if I love that Rihanna did though. She always looks so amazing and this just really is not…at all. I mean she still looks great, but it’s just boring.rihanna-2013-video-music-awards

Ciara – On one hand this is amazing…on the other, this is the weirdest event to wear this too. It’s kind of a little bit too dressy. Also, I’m pretty sure it’s not even covering her lady parts.ciara

Rita Ora – I actually kind of really like this even though it’s slightly over the top. She rocks it. I’m also in love with her hair.rita-ora-2013-vmas

Ellie Goulding – I love the studs and the dress…but I wish she did something fun with her hair!Ellie-Goulding-attends-the-2013-MTV-Video-Music-Awards-2222761

Lady Gaga – I am not sure about this…because it’s actually really normal for Lady Gaga so I’m feeling like its ok, but it kinda looks like a trash bag at the bottom.gaga VMA

Jennifer Hudson – I’m not the biggest fan of this outfit. It’s ok. Maybe it would be better if she took off the necklace? I also might like it better say if it was on Victoria Beckham? Thoughts?Jennifer-Hudson-2013-MTV-Video-Music-Awards-in-Christian-Dior--600x900

Zoey Deutch – There are things I like about this and things that I don’t. I feel like it depends on the angle that you are looking at it maybe. I love the color and the idea, but I think maybe it makes her look a little bit wide. 177928020-400x601

Crystal Reed – I love this dress, it just seems a little bit off for the VMAs. I feel like she should have done something a little bit more fun.Crystal-Reed-IN-Zac-Posen-2013-MTV-Video-Music-Awards-4-600x900

Erin Wasson – This makes me really sad. I have no words. She obviously has a really great body, but this in no way shows it off in a good way. Just wear a bikini. Also, the head wrap? WTF?

Little Kim – I’m really not sure where to start here…the shoes are hideous. I am not sure if she was trying to look like she got abducted by aliens…and if she was trying to make it look see-through as well…she also looks like a punked out sister-wive with that hair. Yuck.check_out_the_worst_dressed_celebs_of_mtv_vma_awards_2013

Miley Cyrus – She is like a Mariachi Band gone wrong. And this was obviously not the worst thing she did all night. I can’t even talk about her. Ugh, she’s terrible.

Sarah Hyland – She is usually so cute and this dress does nothing for her. It reminds me of Gladiator or something, but not in a good way.Sarah+Hyland+2013+MTV+Video+Music+Awards+Arrivals+U7cMzj5pQxIl

Joan Smalls – I do NOT like these boots or this dress at all. Neither one of them flatter her amazing body. Boo.tumblr_ms45zgTllH1r3ydyuo1_500

Katy Perry – This would almost be ok since it’s Katy, but that grill is terrible. It ruined the whole thing. Plus there’s the fact that Coco Rocha wore this at the Met Ball not that long ago. I’m not a hug fan of the print so it wouldn’t be on my best dressed anyway. At least she wore better shoes than the boots that Coco wore.2

Shailene Woodley – I love this girl! She looks so cute and I love that her outfit its young and fun! It’s perfect for her and this event.  (Emilio Pucci)Shailene Woodley

Allison Williams – I am becoming more and more obsessed with this girl. I love her style. She looks so cute in this Valentino dress. It’s just dressy enough that it fits her style perfectly, but just fun and cute enough because it’s short and lacey that it totally works for this event. I love her.02884111

Selena Gomez – This Versace dress is gorgeous! I love the detail! I don’t have a single bad thing to saw about this. Amazing!!!!top_6_the_best_dressed_of_mtv_vma_awards_2013

Taylor Swift – I LOVE this Herve Leger bandage dress on her. It fits her perfectly and I love what she did with her makeup and hair. I think this is my very favorite because of how it fits her and she’s finally branching out from her usual attire. I’m literally just obsessed. rs_634x1024-130825184000-634_tay_cm_825132013 MTV Video Music Awards - Arrivals

One Top – Two Bloggers: with The Red Closet Diary

My good friend, Jalynn, from The Red Closet Diary, and I love to shop. Well, we are bloggers…surprise, surprise. So, we went shopping the other day and found this cute animal print top from Gap…on sale! We figured we had to do a post together, especially since we have such different styles. It’s always fun to see how other people wear the same item, or how the same person will style one thing so many different ways.2013-08-25_00032013-08-25_0004

This top is really versatile because not only can you wear it dressy,  like Jalynn did, but you can wear it more casually like I did below. Also, it’s a perfect transitional piece because it’s made out of a lightweight sweatshirt material. It is great for summer because it’s not too hot, but if you throw it on with some jeans, booties, and a scarf you have a fall outfit!IMG_1005_2IMG_1003_2IMG_0998IMG_1022_2IMG_0999

My outfit:

Top – Gap; Shorts – J.Crew Factory; Shoes – Forever 21; Bag – Marc by Marc Jacobs; Watch – Marc by Marc Jacobs; Necklace – J.Crew (similar here); Rings – Kemi Designs for Jewelmint; B.P. Nordstrom; Stella & Dot; Lauren Wolf.

Be sure to visit Jalynn at The Red Closet Diary to see more details on how she styled her top, and check out all of her other amazing outfits!!!

The Paris Wife

This is the story of Hadley Richardson, who married Ernest Hemingway, in 1921. Ernest, who is trying to break into the writing scene, is only 21, and marries the 29 year old Hadley, who is not very stylish or by many accounts not considered extremely attractive. The two decide to move to Paris so that he can pursue his career. Hadley struggles with fitting into the new world of artists and writers, and all of the “chic” fashion in Paris. The story continues to show their relationship develop, or should I saw fall apart as they have a child and Ernest becomes involved with other people.

It was a slightly depressing book in the end (I even cried at a part of two), but for some reason I found it really interesting and I really liked it. I lot of it was based on letters that the two actually wrote to each other and his book “A Moveable Feast”. I like his books a lot so it was interesting to read this and get some insight into his life. A lot of it is based on their real relationship, obviously with fiction mixed in as well, but I liked it a lot. So I recommend!

Young, Fabulous, & Broke Tie Dye Maxi

Another Hawaii post. I’m sure you’re getting sick of them by now, but there were so many good places to take photos and it’s a lot easier to take them when I’m not working all week too!

I bought this dress a while ago and loved the print, but wasn’t quite sure about it because the bottom is actually see-through. I decided I would try it out in Hawaii and ended up loving it. You guy will have to let me know how you like it! I love maxis, and I thought Hawaii ended up being the perfect place to wear it. Young, Fabulous, and Broke has tons of cute tie dye(ish) print dresses right now which are so cute and comfy, so if you want to see more, click on the link for this dress below and you can the others they have as well. You should pick one up before summer’s over so you can still wear it! I plan on layering mine and getting some use out of it for fall and again in the spring.

Leg Lengthening Tricks

Being 5’4″ I would give anything to have a few extra inches especially added to my legs. Obviously I’m not jut going to stretch or grow 3-4 more inches at my age, so here are a few tricks for those of you that are in the same boat as me. We have to use fashion to help us out a little .

1. Wear a Nude Shoe – The closer it is to your skin tone, the harder it is to tell where your leg ends and the shoe starts.

2. High-Waisted Anything – High-waisted shorts or pants makes your waistline appear much higher, which in turn makes your legs look much longer.fp_5338012_ang_lively_blake_0706102Kim-Kardashian-Kris-Humphries-Fashion-Trend-High-Waisted-Pants-092111-21-682x1024

3. Wear Pants & Shoes in the same Hue – This creates one long, unbroken line of color, which gives the illusion of long legs.kate moss 261110Add-a-twist-to-your-all-black-lgn

4. Wide Leg Pants and Wedges – Skim the floor with your hemline and add height with some wedges. Looks fab and it’s different than a pair of skinnies everyday.BG-3TEK_mx

5. Vertical Details on Pants – This draws your eye to lengthening lines.main.original.466x530

6. A Pointy Toe – This elongates your feet, with the added benefits of height from the heel.imagesCelebs in Pointy shoes
