Clad & Cloth and a Giveaway with Link of Hearts

Today I get to share a beautiful new brand with you that has such a great cause. Link of Hearts not only is a collection of handmade jewelry, but it was made to raise awareness about Depression. For every product purchased, they donate a piece of inspiration jewelry to someone battling depression. I like this, because usually people just donate money to “the cause”, which always helps, but the person that receives this piece of jewelry has a physical reminder to look at everyday as a symbol of hope.

According to NIMH (National Institute of Mental Health), major depression is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States. In fact, an estimated 16 million adults and 2.2 million adolescents had at least one depressive episode in 2012. The number of patients diagnosed with depression increases by approximately 20% per year. An estimated 121 million people around the world currently suffer from some form of depression.

Link of Hearts believes that one single word, on one piece of jewelry can be a powerful daily reminder and can help in this battle.

“I battled depression and anxiety for about 6 years. I spent the next 4 years getting well, finding myself and searching for meaning. For 10 years, I was estranged from my own life. Depression is dark, painful and ugly. I remember it all and I too, suffered in silence. Now, I am sharing my story with the intention to connect with people dealing with depression or anyone else in need of Inspiration. My story is only one of the millions of others faced with this illness and suffering in silence.
Wearing jewelry with an inspirational message was one of the things that helped keep me going during my years of struggle. Now, I am creating jewelry that I hope will help and inspire someone as much as it’s helped me. I hope to connect and inspire, one person at a time, one piece at a time.”

If you want to purchase your own, you can choose your own words, and choose from the silver chain or a brown chord for the necklace. Remember, for each purchase an Empowered Bracelet (shown above) will be donated to someone suffering from Depression.
