This has been one of my favorite books since high school. I recently re-read it for the upcoming movie and liked it even more this time because I think I was paying more attention. It is about a very interesting and fun time period, and has quite a dynamic cast of characters, so I can’t wait to see the movie!
The story is about a mysterious man named Gatsby and his desperate love for a woman named Daisy Buchanan. Where did he come from? I heard he killed a man. I heard he went to Oxford…
It is narrated by Nick Carraway, who moves in next to Gatsby’s mansion, during his crazy summer of parties which turn out to be nothing more than to get Daisy’s attention. As Nick gets to know Gatsby, he finds out that Daisy and Gatsby were once in love before the war and eventually lost ways and she married Tom Buchanan. (Daisy is Nick’s cousin p.s.) With the help of Nick, they are able to meet again.
Without ruining the ending or all of the enjoyable details, I’m sure you can see where this is going. It’s all very dramatic. You’ll have to read it to find out what happens with Daisy and Gatsby, and of course her husband Tom, and how Gatsby came to make all of his money etc.
Such a great story.
