To sum up The Tiger’s Wife in a sentence, is the story of doctors over a couple decades and their relationship to death throughout the wars in a fictional Balkan province.
I really enjoyed this book. It is the story of a young doctor, and her surgeon Grandfather. It spans from current day to back when he was a child growing up during the earlier wars. He tells his granddaughter his story. There are three main stories in the book; that of the “deathless man”, the “Tiger’s Wife”, and the granddaughter’s journey. It is very interesting to see the relationship between all these stories and how it formed the Grandfather’s life and then his granddaughters.
I would highly recommend this book, but be warned that it is a tiny bit slow at the beginning so push through and you’ll be glad. I haven’t read another book with this stroyline, so it was refreshing.
