Horses and High Fashion…what’s not to love about the Kentucky Derby? I would love to go one day. For now I’ll just have to settle with dreaming up lovely outfits for that one day…This year think less costumey and themed, and think pieces that you can wear all summer. Dress them up for the day of the Derby, but dress them down for every day use.
A Full Skirt – Wear this with a silk tank or a tie waist blouse. Dress it down later with a cute chambray top.
Glad Romance Skirt
A Sun Hat – Be sure to check out my previous post (here) on all the fun hats you can wear, but to be safe, get one that you can wear again!
Whippoorwill Floppy Hat
A Ladylike Bag – For Derby day wear them with girly prints and pastels, and afterwards wear them as we pop of color with your outfit.
Red Valentino Bow Structured Tote
A Proper Sundress – Keep it lovely and simple with minimal jewelry.
Kate Spade Celina Dress
Retro Sunglasses – Southern lady look.
Tory Burch Cat Eye Sunglasses
A Prim Blouse – Wear with a full skirt or with a jacket for the Derby, but dress down later with some distressed denim.
A Ballet Flat – A little preppy and much more comfortable than a pump.
Metallic Cap Toe Ballet Flat
Classic Jewelry – Keep it simple. If it looks like an heirloom, even better.
Mark and Graham Sophia Medallion
Gingham – Polish it up for Derby day, but gingham is perfect for outfits all summer.
